NAVEL GAZER: FIRST ISSUE

NAVEL GAZER is an ongoing auto-bio comic series. NAVEL GAZER: FIRST ISSUE is the first comic compilation project I have done, centering on themes of existentialism, self-image, and loneliness marinated in self-aware (and often self-deprecating) humor. It includes the first strip-style comics I have ever done (“Extreme Makeover” and “Hot Shot”) along with experimental layouts and some plays on genre. The comics take inspiration from cartoonists like Robert Crumb and Caroline Cash as well as the distinct visual language of Japanese Shoujo manga.
